Quick Response: Artists on the Root River – canoe outing

Saturday August 18, 9 am –noon

  • Canoe outing for artists at the Root River Environmental Education Community Center (REC). Location: 1301 West 6th Street, Racine, WI, 53404 [contact me at patriciabriggs@me.com if you would like to get in on this]
  • Not all artist need to attend this outing to do work about the river for the exhibition.  First thing in the morning, Tim, a UWP Geography student will share his department’s work on reconstructing the Root River bank under the direction of Professor Joy Wolf. Artist will work on their own or in groups following looking at the ecology of the riverbank a little more deeply than usual.
  • Bagels and coffee and water provided.  Bring your lunch and art supplies.
  • Artists have been asked to respond to the Root River by making studies, sketches, photos, rubbing, etc. To work for about a week to develop their ideas. Finally, they are asked to deliver their product(s) to Black-Eyed Press by August 31st.

  • Blues music by Christian Dreyer and a gathering of people that care about the river.
